Sheel is an investor at Bessemer Venture Partners, the oldest venture capital firm in the world with former investments including Celtel, Quidsi, and Skype. He focuses on mobile, Internet, and health care investments with an emphasis on emerging markets.
Sheel co-founded ReSight, a nonprofit organization, with his younger brother in 2008. ReSight democratizes eye-care services by turning former vision patients into "Vision Guardians" who screen others for impairments. ReSight's current program, piloted by partner hospital LV Prasad, has screened over 30,000 people and treated over 2,000 people in rural India.
Sheel graduates from Stanford University with BAs in both Human Biology and Public Policy, and a Graduate Certificate in Product Creation & Innovative Manufacturing. He has consulted or advised a number of venture-backed startups, nonprofits, and political committees; and received national awards from the Coca-Cola Company, Toyota, Intel, HSBC, ESPN, AT&T, Sanofi-Aventis, Discovery Channel, and the US Congress for his achievements.
